THE WRITER IN ME

Musings Of An Eastside Detroit is a collection of poems started when I was in my 20’s.

In the beginning writing was a way to relieve stress, anxiety and pain. There was something about putting my thoughts to paper that made me feel better. 

There have been gaps in my writing.  Especially when I was self-employed.  Not a lot of time for expressive writing when you are writing to put bread on the table.

Retirement has been an opportunity to find and reclaim my creative mojo.  I have taken a number of creative writing, fine arts, and theater classes. They have all contributed to the reclamation of  my creative self.

I have paired my illustrations, art work, and doodles with poems I think suit each other.  I think you might be able to relate to many of the poems.  They contain many universal themes – love, loss, joy, introspection, peace and hope
